Bunny Trails, Forks, and Patoky

Blog.  The word itself doesn't really conjure up lovely thoughts.  Sounds like a blob of something that just got dumped somewhere in an unappealing state of blah.  I've never really been a fan of blogs and certainly never entertained the thought of writing one myself.  But recent events have led to this moment where I have succumbed to the blogging world and have myself become a blogger, hopefully a little more aesthetic than my description above.

Why blog, you may ask?  I'm so glad you did.  About three months ago, my family embarked on a whirlwind journey into a new phase of our life.  In late March, Luke was offered a substantial scholarship to the seminary he had long hoped to attend.  The scholarship itself was a little miracle and completely unexpected and we had three weeks to accept or decline the offer.

But even that is not the start.  To truly understand this journey, you would have to travel back in time to a place known as "engagement" to most couples.  During this miraculous time of love and anticipation, of planning and dress fittings and house hunting, many conversations were had about our mutual call to ministry, the desire to serve within the church and the heart we had to serve the body of Christ.  Fast forward to 2013 and a "perfect storm" had dropped us in a place of disorientation and refinement as we sought to hear God's voice for our lives.  Insert said scholarship; much prayer from pastors, friends and family; and numerous confirmations and that brings you to today.  Today we are one month away from moving to Wilmore, Kentucky to begin a four-year Master's of Divinity program at Asbury Theological Seminary.

Many of you have walked with us on different parts of our journey.  You've seen our joy, our tears, our moments of humbling, our times of victory, our hopes, our fears, our refinement and our growth.  Our story is only complete with you in it.  So, moving to Kentucky requires that we find a way  to invite you along, to keep you with us as our story unfolds and to keep you in our lives, praying, laughing, hoping, crying and growing with us.  Therefore... I blog.

Coming up with a name for this blog was, to say the least, difficult while also hysterical.  Some of the names my friends came up with are listed in the title above.  Some of the more hilarious suggestions have been left out.  My personal favorite was "Christina's Funky Adventures" which I will not upack for you, suffice it to say, I was in happy tears after a long facebook chat with two of my dearest friends.  I settled on what you see above, Faith 4 Years, in my sleep last night and, while not as catchy or as funny as some of the other names, seems to fit what I was trying to share.  I invite you to join our walk of faith over the next 4 years as we see where God leads the Embree family into service in His Kingdom.  My plan is to share with your our ups and downs, our joys and sorrows, our lessons learned and our memories captured and to let this blog be a place where you can continue to walk the journey with us.

Our Bunny Trail has led us to a Fork in the road as we move from PA to KY and we want you with us, all the way. Faith for the journey, Faith for the prize, Faith 4 years.
